The Alfa Romeo Stelvio Takes on the Competition

Alfa Romeo is Italian automotive ingenuity at its best. When you've been making cars for well over one hundred years, you become an expert in manufacturing machines that run well and that people want to drive.

Now, Alfa Romeo continues to lead the charge in innovation, by entering the competitive market of SUV crossover vehicles. Here at Ken Pollock Alfa Romeo in Wilkes Barre, we think the all-new Alfa Romeo Stelvio not only hits the bullseye, it's redefining the crossover genre.

The Alfa Romeo Stelvio vs...

At Ken Pollock Alfa Romeo, we already know we have the best cars and the most highly tuned machines on our lot. But, we also know that, when it comes to crossovers, and even luxury-level crossovers, the Alfa Romeo is not your only option.

If you're torn between the world-class Alfa Romeo Stelvio or it's competition, let us help. Here, we've done our homework, comparing the most popular models side-by-side, to help make your decision-making process easier.

the Audi Q5

  • Power. The Audi Q5 doesn't even come close to giving drivers the same power as the Alfa Rome Stelvio. The base models of the Q5 offers only a 252-horsepower engine, while the Alfa Romeo Stelvio starts at 280 horsepower. That's just the beginning. When you move up to the Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio, the engine puts out a whopping 505 horsepower that the Audi can't match even in its wildest dreams.
  • Features. Regardless of which trim you buy, the Alfa Romeo Stelvio comes with more standard features than the Audi Q5. In fact, high-performance features, including adaptive suspension dampers and Brembo brakes, as well as interior ambient lighting, are all standard equipment for the Alfa Romeo model, while the Audi either doesn't have them at all or charges you more money for an upper trim level to get them.
  • Transmission. As with engine output, the Alfa Romeo Stelvio also comes equipped with a more powerful transmission than the Audi Q5. In fact, the Alfa Romeo comes standard with an eight-speed shiftable automatic, meaning not only do you have eight gear ratios, you also have the option of either an automatic or to be in control of your car's shifting. The Audi, on the other hand, has a seven-speed automated manual transmission, giving you fewer gears and no automatic option, only the clutch-less automated manual.

While both models offer the family-friendly space and all-wheel drive of a crossover, only the Alfa Romeo Stelvio gives you the prowess and performance of an amazing sports car. Plus, the Audi Q5 has become a common sight on American roads, as a popular crossover. Why be one of a million when you can stand out in the crowd, as you were meant to?

the Honda CR-V

  • The Alfa Romeo model is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission where the Honda SUV only utilizes a continuously variable automatic
  • While both models offer a turbocharged engine option, the Honda CR-V only offers that at higher trim levels-a standard option on all models in the Stelvio lineup
  • The Alfa Romeo Stelvio puts out more horsepower and torque than any of the options in the CR-V lineup
  • Both models offer an all-wheel drive option, but the Alfa Romeo SUV model has it as a standard feature
  • The headroom is comparable on both models, so your passengers feel comfortable and able to sit without hunching over
  • The infotainment system offered in the Alfa Romeo Stelvio is larger than the one presented in the Honda CR-V- 6.5-inches to only 5.0-inches
  • You can immerse yourself in your favorite music with the eight-speaker sound system in the Stelvio while the CR-V uses a four-speaker sound system
  • You’ll get a more luxurious ride with the Alfa Romeo SUV including options like leather seats and dual-zone temperature control-options that you have to pay extra for on the CR-V
  • The Alfa Romeo Stelvio is a more expensive option than the Honda CR-V but offers a lot for the price

the Jeep Cherokee

  • The Alfa Romeo SUV comes equipped with a 2.0-liter intercooled, turbocharged engine while the Jeep model offers a 2.4-liter regular engine
  • The Alfa Romeo Stelvio outputs more horsepower and torque than the Jeep Cherokee
  • Both models offer V6 engines but only at higher trim levels
  • While both SUVs come with all-wheel drive, you have to select that as an option on the Cherokee while it comes standard on all levels of the Stelvio
  • Each model provides comparable fuel efficiency, with more efficient city driving behind the wheel of the Stelvio and better highway efficiency in the Jeep Cherokee
  • The Alfa Romeo Stelvio offers more headroom for your passengers while you can stretch your legs out more with the Jeep Cherokee. Comfort will be found in each SUV for all five passengers to feel cozy
  • When you’re looking to grab those large grocery loads, the Alfa Romeo Stelvio offers more overall cargo space than the Jeep Cherokee
  • While both models offer luxury features in their lineup, you have to spend more on a higher trim level with the Jeep Cherokee than on the Alfa Romeo Stelvio, where many amenities come standard
  • While the Alfa Romeo SUV is more expensive, it provides more bang for your buck where you need to pay extra to get luxury packages on the Jeep SUV

the Infiniti QX50

  • Unlike the Infiniti QX50, the new Alfa Romeo Stelvio comes standard with all-wheel drive making this crossover a great option to tackle the rain, dirt, mud, and snow.
  • Both crossovers hold up to five passengers with ample space for your family and their luggage.
  • The Stelvio has a larger fuel tank capacity than the QX50 to help take you further without constant trips to the pump.
  • If you’re seeking power, the Stelvio is your best option. This SUV packs a 280-horsepower turbocharged inline-four-cylinder engine, while the QX50 is fitted with a 268-horsepower turbocharged inline four-cylinder.
  • The Stelvio also produces more standard torque than the QX50, putting out 306 pound-feet of torque. The QX50 only produces 280 pound-feet of torque.
  • Unlike the QX50, the Stelvio comes standard with an automatic transmission. The QX50 comes fitted with a continuously variable automatic transmission.
